Evernote Is My Everything

2023 UPDATE: Sadly, I’ve broken up with Evernote. There is a variety of reasons, but mostly that on the devices I own, Evernote’s handwritten note capabilities just aren’t where I need them to be. Also, it’s gotten expensive! So I’ve moved on to OneNote since it’s already included in my Microsoft 365 software. Click here to read about my OneNote setup!

I love Evernote. I use it daily for both work and personal note-taking, and I’d like to share some of the ways I use it:

  • Client Notes – recaps of meetings, my scanned notes from my Rocketbook, and other details to review closer to the event.
  • Recipes – my husband and I share this notebook, so we can both easily search for and access recipes. When we find a recipe online we like or want to try, we save it to Evernote!
  • Shopping Notes – I keep track of sizes I wear in different brands, the color of the makeup I use, even the size of my dining room table in case I see a great tablecloth on sale.
  • Articles – if I see an article online I’d like to read or save for later, I use the Web Clipper to import it into Evernote.
  • Conference and Webinar Notes – if I’m watching a webinar, I’ll usually take notes directly in Evernote. At a conference, I may or may not have my computer in front of me, so I might scan handwritten notes later. But having all the notes in Evernote makes it easier to find details after the session is over.
  • Travel Confirmations – I forward any emails related to traveling (flight confirmations, hotel bookings, etc.) to Evernote and tag them with the destination name so that they are all in one place. Plus, notebooks can be made available offline on mobile devices!
  • Rewards Numbers – frequent flier numbers, hotel points logins, and other rewards details are hard to keep track of. Not with Evernote! Mine all live in one note so they are easy to find.
  • Sermon Notes – each Sunday I type my sermon notes in my Bible app, but then I also share the notes and scriptures to Evernote too for easy searching/reference.

Can you keep track of these things on your phone’s notepad? Sure. But I love being able to access my notes everywhere, whether it’s on the web, on my mobile device, or in a desktop app. Plus it’s so easy to share notes and notebooks with both Evernote users and non-users. You can simply send the text of a note right to any email address from within the app.
